First week of my new norm done!

My first 40 hour work week in almost 10 years is over.  I am exhausted and exhilarated at the same time.  I feel as if it really is a new beginning.  Now if I can just get a good routine going with household chores, I’ll feel even better.  I have spent so long afraid of making a change.  It was always my own underlying fear that I justified by thinking it would be too hard on the kids.  While this first week certainly had it’s rough moments, it went much more smoothly for the kids than I ever expected!  My oldest (and the most vocal about NOT wanting me to work) got up every morning and asked me what she could do to help.  Her attitude and kindness has shown me more than anything else that we will be ok no matter what.  I think I need to give my children so much more credit.

I absolutely love The Dave Matthews Band.  Their music and lyrics speak to me.  Friday on my way home from work, my music list played “You Might Die Trying”.  It just seemed so appropriate for my week, and especially all the changes that are going to come up in my life.  So, I’m going to share the lyrics and let anyone reading this take their own meaning.

“You Might Die Trying”

To change the world

It starts with one step

However small

First step is hardest of all

Once you get to your gate

You will walk in tall

You said you never did

‘Cause you might die trying
‘Cause you might die trying

‘Cause you
If you close your eyes

‘Cause the house is on fire

And think you couldn’t move

Until the fire dies

The things you never did

‘Cause you might die trying
‘Cause you might die trying

We’ll be as good as dead

‘Cause you might die trying

‘Cause you might die trying
If you give you begin to live

If you give you begin to live

You begin

You get the world
If you give, you begin to live

You get the world, you get the world

If you give, you being to live

But you might die trying
Oh, you might die trying

You might die trying

The things you never did

‘Cause you might die trying
You’ll be as good as dead

You never did
Here’s to my hopes of eventually being able to walk tall 😊.

Peace and Love.
